The first batch of matches have been announced for GLORY’s NYE show in Tokyo at the Saitama Super Arena.
World number one ranked kickboxer Semmy Schilt will meet Brice Guidon in the first round of the nights tournament. Schilt has dominated kickboxing on all levels, from K-1 to GLORY. He is an extremely familiar face in Japan and will likely be one of the focal points of the nights fights. From France, Brice Guidon, the WPMF European Heavyweight and Super Heavyweight champion will have his work cut out for him against Schilt.
Number two seed Gokhan Saki will meet Japanese fighter Raomoru. A fight that favors Saki in a huge way, Raomoru will give it a punchers chance.
Daniel Ghita, who is the number 3 seed in the tournament will meet Fabiano Aoki, a Japanese-Brazilian. Aoki has competed with RISE, as well as J-Network and WPMF.
Remy Bonjasky, who at one point was considered never able to compete again will continue his comeback against Filip Verlinden, a muay thai based kickboxer.
Peter Aerts, the man that knocked Schilt off at the last K-1 WGP in 2010 will meet his training partner Mourad Bouzidi.
Errol Zimmerman, a contender in the K-1 ranks and amongst the world’s greatest fighters meets Jamal Ben Saddik, an undefeated Moroccan, dubbed the “Moroccan Semmy Schilt”.
Anderson Braddock Silva meets Croatian Igor Jurkovic.
Former PrideFC superstar Sergei Kharitonov, who has dabbled in both kickboxing and MMA quite successfully will meet powerhouse Rico Verhoeven, in the final bout of the tournament.
A total of $600,000 will be at stake in the tournament.
