Laughter 7 gym, Kazushi Sakuraba’s Omiori, Tokyo gym, has seen brighter days.
According to the latest Wrestling Obeserver newsletter by Dave Meltzer, Kazushi Sakuraba announced the closing of his Laughter7 gym at a puroresu event this week. Noted as being a casualty of the FEG/K-1 fallout that has had far reaching implications on the Japanese combat sports world, Sakuraba simply couldn’t make it work anymore.
This marks the second big name gym to have been bitten by the bug. Cloud Dojo, Yoshihiro Akiyama’s upscale facility went under last year as the industry has been seeing some of the darkest times in the history of Japanese combat sports.
Sakuraba has recently gone back to his roots and been competing with the NJPW with fellow teammate Katsuyori Shibata.
