Pancrase announced earlier this year they were going to the number system, and here we are, Pancrase 245.
The 245th event will feature Japanese legend Yuki Kondo, who looks for his second win in a row. His opponent, Seiki Ryo is just the opponent for Kondo at the latter part of his career. Ryo, who is 9-9, lost nearly all of his fights in one stretch, save for a couple of ND’s and draws.
Kondo was carted out of his fight in January on a stretcher after his corner put a halt to the bout. Looking much slower and having a difficult time, Kondo was thought to have fought his last bout. He returned in November, however, and KO’d Kosei Kubota in less than a minute, showing he still has a little left in the 37 year old tank.
Shingo Suzuki will take on Sojiro Orui in the final of the tournament to decide the next Welterweight King of Pancrase challenger.
The event features the theme “Pancrase vs. AKA” which will pit three fighters from Pancrase against three fighters from AKA. Later in March, Pancrase 248 will continue the theme only against the “Wand Fight Team”.
