The old saying “better late than never” comes to mind with the news that KENTA has finally captured the GHC Heavyweight title, prying it away from dominate champ Takeshi Morishima last night. Fans have been clambering for a KENTA title run for years now but NOAH always seemed against it, perhaps because of his small size but with all the recent hard times NOAH have been through lately, they can hardly afford to not give the fans what they want anymore.

It’s also interesting to note that Katsuyori Shibata was in KENTA’s corner for the match. The two ass kickers made up Team Takeover years ago after Shibata left NJPW and now Shibata’s future in NJPW again seems to be in jeopardy, he hasn’t been welcomed back with open arms and now that Kidani has stepped down, Shibata is low on friends, so we could see a Team Takeover reunion in the near future. But this is all just speculation.
