Josh Barnett has declined the UFC’s contract offer, this according to his manager Leland LaBarre.
Barnett was offered a guarantee when it comes to his fights, however, his manager stated that there were a couple of other items the two parties were unable to come to terms on.
While this is pure speculation, one would strong wonder if Josh’s puro interests got in the way of a deal with the promotion. Barnett has been a mainstay within the Japanese puroresu ranks for some time. Additionally, there was word that he was going to return to Pancrase in the coming year, but that was shot down by his manager. Pancrase management said otherwise when we reported.
Barnett has been one of the top heavyweight’s in MMA since the PrideFC days. Upon Pride’s demise, Barnett became a free agent of sorts until making a home with Strikeforce, which was purchased by Zuffa only to be shuttered in January of 2013.
