Champion versus champion, Jeff Monson will meet Satoshi Ishii on February 24th at the IGF Genome24 event in Tokyo, the promotion announced. Another sign that the IGF is becoming more and more interested with mixed martial arts, Ishii and Monson will contend in a mixed martial arts match.
Ishii last fought with the IGF two months ago when he defeated Tim Sylvia in what was deemed one of the most boring matches in ages. Monson, a journeyman, will certainly have his submission skills put to the test as his opponent is an Olympic gold medalist.
Bob Sapp will contend in a kickboxing bout against Taizan, a 6 ft 11 Chinese 24 year old, a bout that gives the meaning to the old term, “Freakshow”.
Naoya Ogawa is also set to compete on the card against a to be named opponent.
