Kyoji Horiguchi will finally get his shot at the Shooto World Featherweight Championship when he takes on the defending champ Hiromasa Ogikubo. The title bout is set for Shooto’s March 16th event at the Korakuen Hall.
Horiguchi is one of the biggest prospects to come out of the Japanese circuit in a long time. Fighting out of KRAZY BEE, Horiguchi has wowed audiences with his fast, powerful striking ability and his impressive takedown defense. He achieved his biggest victory last December and VTJ 1st where he defeated Tachi Palace Fights bantamweight champion Ian Loveland.
Ogikubo, another talented prospect coming out of Shooto, will look to make his first defense of his World Title. He won the Championship last May after beating Koetsu Okazaki via rear naked choke. After his victory he stated “As champion, I think I’ll rest up for half a year and then I’ll take on Horiguchi.” He is rested and now prepared to derail the momentum of Horiguchi.
