The Fireball Kid, Takanori Gomi, suffered a broken hand in the first round of his lightweight fight Sunday morning.  Gomi, who continued to throw huge shots, displayed some of the flashiest combinations as he pounded away at Diego Sanchez’s body and did far more damage on his feet than that of his opponent.  Nevertheless, Diego Sanchez walked away the win in a very close fight that was awarded to him by split decision.

Gomi took to his blog today to post an image of his hand, clearly suffering a fracture of sorts.  Dated March 4th, 2013, it appears Gomi waited some time before deciding to head to Ogikubo Hosital.
